Kate Duprez has always loved history and loves reading historical novels from any era. In historical fiction, during the events of history, the characters and their stories become more than just statistics. They become real.
Readers suddenly care about the people who lived, loved, suffered or thrived during wars, environmental disasters, political unrest or times of change. Readers come to understand and feel what it was really like for people living during that time.
She has been inspired to bring to life the amazing feats and courage of women and men during wartime. The Warsaw Messenger, The Bordeaux Bakery and its sequel, The Bordeaux Betrayals are all inspired by the female agents who were sent into German occupied Europe to live and work undercover in local communities during World War 2, helping arm the local resistance, gathering intelligence and transmitting it back to Britain, and in the later stages of the war, preparing the locals for D Day.
Having lived and worked in Cambodia, Kate is also interested in SE Asia, particularly the Vietnam War era and its devastating effect on the lives of the people of Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, as well as the young Americans sent to fight there along with their families back home. There is a novel in the pipeline for release in 2026.
When not writing, reading or spending time with family and friends, she loves to travel and enjoys an outdoor lifestyle in beautiful New Zealand.
